Meet The Teachers

Tara Collins

Owner

Tara Collins

Hello World! It’s me, Tara Collins!

Who am I?

First off I am the “Trophy Wife” (laughing out loud to myself as I type this) to Paul Collins and Mother to 4 beautiful children who are funny, caring, loving, silly … who are we kidding sometimes those kids are sassy too! Oh, I also am the owner of Royal Montessori Academy! Whew, that’s a lot of jobs! Paul and I have three daughters and then all the stars were aligned and our 4th child was a son. I love being a mother and wife. Those two jobs are something I will never take for granted and I hold near and dear to my heart. I am always conscious of my responsibilities to my family and constantly strive to be the best for them.

Together Paul and I own Overhead Solutions, Inc., a local roofing company that we started from the ground up January of 2010. We are so proud of how our hard work has paid off. Together we are a dream team…or at least in our world we are!

Now let’s talk about how Royal Montessori Academy came about!

First off in the wee stages of creating this school, the name was going to be Montessori Academy. Boring right? Then one day my youngest daughter Sofia asked me to read her a book. Of course she chose a “Sofia the First” book to read to her. All you parents of girls out there know who “Sofia the First” is. As I was reading to her in our home office the character in the book kept referring to her “Royal” school. Just a few short pages in I knew that the word “Royal” had to be involved in this business. I immediately looked online to see if the name was available and it was! From that moment forward we were nothing short of “Royal.”

I started Royal Montessori Academy (okay I am changing it to RMA for short) for a few key reasons. One of them was my daughter Stella. She was enrolled into a Preschool and every day I would drop her off she would cry so hard and was so unhappy. My heart couldn’t handle it. I was lying in bed one night talking to my “Trophy Husband” trying to figure out what was triggering her to be so unhappy. Long story short was I had to make a change. I NEEDED to make a change for her. So I went off and explored many other Preschools and thought we would just make a move that way. After I explored within our city I didn’t find the environment I was yearning for her. I just wanted something that spoke to her. Bright, colorful, fun and most of all HAPPY! Shouldn’t the halls be filled with color and Bob Marley or the Laurie Berkner Band playing in the background? That was it, I decided. I am going to build my own school. Can I do that? Can a mother who wants more for her child just make more for her? The answer is YES she can!

I live in Little Suamico and knew I wanted the new school to be close to my home in the Howard area. So I met with our amazing builder, Rich Otradovec and the best Project Manager around Mike Smits to get this ball rolling! I didn’t have anything in hand but my ideas. Scared out of my mind that they would think I am some looney mother. I will never forget this morning. I was sick as a dog the 24 hours prior but I got my hinder out of bed put myself together and went in there feeling only 50% and gave it my all. I told them all about how I wanted to make a change, my ideas, my visions and then asked for them to help me do it! Now looking back I am 100% sure they thought I was a looney mother but none the less they helped me move forward by getting some building budgets together. Just some rough numbers were thrown around to build a brand new facility in the area I wanted and I don’t know if it was the sickness or the shock but I nearly fell off my rocker. I just knew I couldn’t afford to build a new facility. I was feeling like it was the end of the road for me. I felt like the idea that is so great in my head wouldn’t ever be a reality. Cue the perfect comeback movie music here… Mr. Otradovec said hang on just one second let me make a call. With that one phone call he said to me, “I know of a vacant building for you to look at.” I couldn’t believe it. I looked at the building and that was it. I knew this was the home for RMA. Just a little facelift and the building would be perfect. Okay so I have an idea, vision and building. Now all I needed was money and an amazing staff. That sounds easy…right?

Business plans. Business plans. I needed to write a business plan before I ask a bank for money? Oh, crap. I had never done that before but that sure wasn’t going to stop me. Try not to judge too harshly about my upcoming parent neglect but I had worked that Friday morning until Sunday at midnight every waking moment on this business plan. I wanted it to be perfect. It had to be perfect. Well the outcome was just about perfect. I had thought of everything and included everything…except my contact information. A little embarrassing when I met with Greg and didn’t have any of that included or a card on me. Greg Lundberg from First National Bank was the guy I needed. I needed to find a banker who would believe in the vision of this school and Greg sure did. Turns out that Greg understood just what I was looking for as a parent and believed in me. I was just about doing cartwheels after this meeting. I hope you are still with me now we have the idea, vision, building AND money! Things were just rolling.

I put my surgical gloves on and started the facelift of the building. Our building had been vacant for 4 years so it needed some cosmetic work. Paint and flooring everywhere. I spend hours looking thought Pinterest boards and on websites for ideas on how the school should look. No one picture expressed what I was looking for so I started my idea board and meshed them all together. We have an environment that is bright, fun, colorful and calming in all the right areas. We spent one whole month dedicated to painting every area in this building and the next redoing all the floors. Over 13,000 square feet on our first floor alone. Remember that “Trophy Husband” I was talking about? He and so many members of my family came to help out in whatever way they could! Soon enough the renovation was complete. Now all I needed was teachers and materials.

I needed teachers but most importantly a counterpart for the business end of the business. I knew there was one person I wanted, no had to have on my team. It was Mrs. Jeanine James! Mrs. James is a Toddler teacher who has taught my 3 daughters and we just loved her! Some of you parents may have been there where you have a teacher that you could just kidnap from the school and beg them to live in your house and help you raise your kids, that’s her. She is a potty training guru and has this amazing understanding of children and how they operate. I went on the hunt and came out dragging my very own Mrs. James! She has proven to be an amazing asset and I am so thankful for her! She not only can keep up with the kids but can keep up with me. She is the other half of me at RMA. Next we knew we needed a true "Montessorian" to come in and fine tune all the Montessori details of the classrooms. One name came to mind for Mrs. James and that was Mrs. Kauffman. Mrs. Kauffman is a "Montessorian" through and through. She help me enhance the Montessori curriculum and get all the right materials for the classrooms. Together it’s amazing to collaborate and bring this Montessori curriculum up to date with what is relevant in our world now and how we can benefit from the changes in the world since Maria Montessori was alive. As I hire teachers and staff for our school I am constantly raising the bar. I refuse to lower the bar. These are our children and this is the person spending the majority of their day with them. They need to be the best. I can honestly stay with 100% certainty that every person that joins our staff brings something amazing to the table and has a passion for teaching. I want to provide a place of employment for them that they can retire from.

In a nutshell that is how RMA started. Since then we have continued every day to make this place the best in our area. Push the boundaries with preschool education and bring the children an amazing curriculum within an amazing school. I always tell the staff at RMA “I will always set you up for success.” I believe in this a thousand fold. I want to set the teachers up for success which will in turn set the students up for success and so on.

Now let’s talk about this parent group you may be thinking about joining…

We are AWESOME! You know how you have a vision for your kids to be in an amazing learning environment with other amazing kids? Those awesome kids come from awesome parents. This parent group is like none other that I have seen with my own two eyes. These parents are so involved and invested in their children’s education and experience at RMA. I feel such an amazing connection with this group. I have laughed with many, cried with some and loved their kids with all. I had never given this part of the school much thought. I honestly thought I would work in the office and be out of sight out of mind. Boy was I wrong. I am so excited to see these parents and students every day and help in any way I can. When you are running late for work and need to get your child to their class in a hot second to make it to work on time I am the first one at the door swooping up that child saying “Bye Dad and Mom! You go I’ve got this.” I feel so passionately that any way I can help and make a student’s transition into their school day easier I will do. I try to be creative in giving them a special task that can take some of their attention away from being sad that Mom and dad are leaving and let them do something special. This part of the job fills my heart up completely.

For those parents that have taken the plunge with me on this journey already, THANK YOU! Saying verbally that I appreciate you doesn’t even come close to how much appreciation I have for your business. All your kind words about the school and referrals don’t go unnoticed. Just recently we had our first field trip as a school and as I stood there watching the children climb in and out of a large mouth display at the Children’s Museum of Green Bay I was overcome with emotion. I cried and then Mrs. James cried. I cannot believe I, a loony mom who wanted more for her kids, made this idea in my head a reality. We did it.

I have told every parent to come through these doors the same thing; I speak Mom. I am a parent just like you. I learned so much though this process and probably the most important thing I learned is that what we feel in our guts as parents is never wrong. It is our instinct to protect our children and want the best for them. I learned that I am not as looney as I thought, I am just a Mom who wouldn’t accept that what we had out there was the best that there was for my children.

UPDATE: We are on to building #2!! WOW! I cannot believe after 12 months of opening RMA I would have purchased another location for the East side of Green Bay. I am floored but beyond humbled and excited.

Daily I am just thankful, grateful and amazed at how much I LOVE this school, the families and the students. I never knew I would have felt this way about this - or I would have done it sooner! The emails, texts, chats and kind words you parents share with me is like adding fuel to a fire. It is so rewarding and I am thankful for all of you. You notice the small things. You notice the hard work.

RMA East is opened September 1, 2015 and is just as beautiful as RMA West! I kept all the amazing colors, curriculum and most importantly standard for both locations. Come check out our East Campus too!

I won't let you down!

Thanks for reading my bio...or blog-ish.

Jeanine James

School Administrator, West & East Campus

Jeanine James

My name is Jeanine James. I am 32 years old and was born in California, I am married to my best friend, Richard, and have 3 beautiful daughters JazzLynn, Kahlee and Chloe’. I am the youngest of 4 children. I moved to Green Bay when my oldest daughter was born to be by my siblings and for my daughter to be near her cousins, also giving my daughter the opportunity at a slower life that California didn’t offer. While growing up I was always around children, whether it be playing with the neighborhood children or babysitting for families. This is where my love of teaching children stemmed from! Children have always brought a smile to my face as I have theirs.

I decided when my oldest daughter was old enough to attend Pre-School that I wanted to be by her side and share her day with her but also still be employed. Montessori was the Pre-School that I chose and then also started working there. I started as an assistant in 2003 and became a teacher for the seven (7) years. I specialize in teaching the Toddler age 18 months through 3 years old. One of my joys at this age is their eagerness to learn and want to know and try everything! I also have the pleasure of working closely with the parents and sharing their child’s growth. The relationships with the parents are just as important to those with the children for me. It’s a team effort and I am honored to be part of each families team. The passion that I had in the beginning for teaching these young children and watching their faces light up when they have learned something new or have accomplished a task on their own still gives me joy each day! Montessori isn’t just a curriculum but rather a way of life. Montessori has taught me many things and has made my life richer.

I will be one of Royal Montessori Academy’s Transitional Toddler teachers. This is a very important classroom that we are integrating into the Montessori curriculum. This classroom's purpose is to bridge the gap between the Toddler classroom and the Pre-School classroom. Our classroom materials will be a mix of both classrooms and really prep those children that are almost ready for Pre-School materials.

I have a strong passion for learning myself and continue to work on my education so I can be the best teacher and Administrator for your families. Continuing education is one of many things our entire staff has in common; we all strive for more and want to learn more to bring that back to the children.

I cannot wait to share my experience with Montessori while working with your children and watching them grow!

Tracy Sette

Hello RMA families!

My name is Tracy Sette and I am very excited to be one of the teachers in the Nido (infant) classroom at the east campus!

My love of children started at a very young age. I grew up in an in-home daycare and started helping my mom early on. I loved always having playmates around and even as a kid I spent the most time with the babies.

I have a bachelor’s degree from UW-Green Bay in Psychology and Human Development. When my son was born I decided to stay leave my job and watch children out of my home. I loved the three years I spent as a home care provider, but after a move to a new neighborhood I made the difficult decision to return to work. I consider myself very blessed to have found RMA and to be able to continue as a caregiver.
I love spending my spare time with my family and friends enjoying farmer’s markets, festivals, and bonfires. I love going to see live music, particularly my husband (he is a bass and guitar player) and our musician friends perform. I also enjoy reading, cooking, traveling (I especially enjoyed Ireland and Germany), and snuggling with my petite Golden-doodle, Jameson.

Teresa Nussbaum

Toddler Teacher, West Campus

Teresa Nussbaum

Hello, I am Mrs. Nussbaum! I have taught Pre-School in the Green Bay area for more than two decades bringing energy, patience and compassion into the classroom every day! I have a genuine and natural rapport with children and strive to build their self-confidence with gentle guidance and encouragement. My lesson plans are both educational and fun, based in the Montessori environment where the child learns through active discovery rather than passive reception.

I earned my Early Childhood Degree with honors in 1987 and my Montessori teaching credentials in 1991. I regularly attend Early Childhood conferences and workshops and observe in various Early Childhood settings. I understand what matters most to parents when choosing a Pre-School for their child. I am a mother a two boys myself. Safety and quality care are my top priorities!

Growing up in a military household I have lived around the world. I enjoy learning about other cultures and cuisines. In my free time I have taught Sunday school for three years, assisted in the art room at a local elementary school, been involved with Cub Scouts, involved as a flag football coach and volunteered for one school year with the Boys and Girls Club afterschool program. I also enjoy hiking, bird watching, gardening among other pastimes.

I look forward to joining the family at Royal Montessori Academy! The facility, teachers and owners all have the same vision and passion for Montessori Education that I do! It's an honor to be a part of what I believe will be the most sought after Montessori program in our area!

I'm a local Green Bay cheesehead, born and raised. After attending high school at Notre Dame Academy, I studied Religious Studies with an emphasis in Youth Ministry from St. Norbert College, where I received my Bachelors Degree in 2015. Throughout the years I've had the joy of working with children of all ages by coaching a variety of sports teams, teaching Bible School, interning with several youth ministry programs, as well as nannying and babysitting. In my free time I love to go hiking, fishing, camping and just about anything that includes the outdoors. I also have a passion for cooking and baking, which my soon-to-be husband seems to appreciate! In addition, we look forward to traveling together throughout the years, since we both have international families: mine from Ireland, and his from Switzerland.

Janet Lewis

Toddler Teacher, West Campus

Janet Lewis

Hello RMA Families!

My name is Janet Lewis and I am so excited to be an important part in your child’s education and growth here at Royal Montessori Academy! I believe that the world is an open book that is waiting to be read! As a Toddler Co -Teacher at the East Campus I am privileged to not only open the book, but to turn the pages in your child’s education with the tools I have learned over many years of working with children of many ages plus the knowledge I will gain while working with Mrs. James.

As a child I would spend one week in the summer with my aunt in her Kindergarten classroom as a special helper. I can remember as early as then that I knew I had a special bond with children. I soon began babysitting neighborhood children and have been caring for children ever since! From working fulltime after school caring for a young boy, becoming a nanny, in home child care, driving school bus for a local elementary school, providing day care for church, many years of being a helper mom in preschool and elementary school for my 4 children, Cub Scout/Girls Scout Mom and over 10 years as a 4-H youth leader I have gathered many skills along my journey.
I had the wonderful opportunity to teach Adventures in Dairyland to 4th grade classes as part of their Science curriculum for over 10 years! I found that at any age children are eager to learn when learning is fun! The simplest things can be used as a tool to learn, the key is to be creative and think out of the box! As my children were growing and entering school I felt the need to continue working part time in child care at a local YMCA. For 16 years I enjoyed creating crafts, playing games, reading stories and above all nurturing children’s minds and building lasting relationships. My friends call me the baby whisperer because I could calm any sad child. Every child is different and I find myself learning about each child so that I may effectively teach them in a way that most fits their personalities. Now after becoming an empty nester I am taking getting back to the teacher in me!

Now to add a bit more insight to whom I am…I have lived in the Green Bay area most of my life, most of it being in the Howard and Pulaski area. I have 4 grown children! I have 3 sons ages 26, 23, and 21 and a daughter that is 18. Although my children have grown I still enjoy watching my son’s college soccer games and my daughter perform in the drumline section as alumni for her high school. I have a very special friend named Paul and together we love to travel… A LOT! I love photography and take MANY photos! I also enjoy being outdoors; camping, kayaking, snow shoeing, walking, and I always take time to smell the roses!

Wendy King

Toddler Co-Teacher, West Campus

Wendy King

Hello, my name is Wendy King. I live in Green Bay with my husband Andy and my four children. My daughter, Taylor is a senior at Notre Dame High School and enjoys soccer. We are looking at college choices this year in her journey to become an Occupational Therapist. My son, Keegan is in seventh grade at St. Bernards Catholic School and loves anything sports related right now it’s basketball. My daughter, Charlee is in third grade at St. Bernards and loves being involved in everything from Girl Scouts, Destination Imagination to NDA future basketball. And my youngest daughter, Peyton is in Kindergarten at St. Bernards. Peyton has been the cheerleader for her older siblings for years and is loving finally having activities of her own, which makes my husband and I constantly running BUT we wouldn’t change a thing.

Working with young children and assisting them with their development has been a passion of mine for the last 13 years. The years I've spent teaching children has allowed me a tremendous opportunity to provide individual attention to suit each child’s needs in an attempt to provide them with the skills they will need to be successful in the future.

If I am not being a taxi driver or cheerleader for one of my children, I really enjoy spending time with family and volunteering my time at school and Church.

I love working as a part of the Royal Montessori Academy team. I also love watching your children grow!

Kelsey Marcks

Toddler Teacher, West Campus

Kelsey Marcks

Hello Royal Montessori Families,

My name is Kelsey Meinholz. I am excited to start my new journey teaching at the Royal Montessori Academy. I grew up in a small town near Madison, Wisconsin with my parents and two sisters, one of which is my twin.

I attended the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay and have received a bachelor degree in Human Development and Psychology. I am so excited to apply what I have learned to my new classroom!

After graduating college I decided to stay in the Green Bay area and I now live in the wonderful village of Howard with my future husband Eric who works for Nsight. In my free time, I am normally very active. I participate in softball, volleyball, golf, and snowboarding. I also like to bike, rollerblade and go for walks/runs. But if I am not playing a sport or just being active you might see me watching sports, being crafty, and hanging out with family and friends.

Teaching children, watching them grow, and seeing them smile is such a blessing in a teacher’s life. I am excited to get to know all of you and help your child grow and become their own independent person.

Stephanee Sullivan

Preschool Teacher, West Campus

Stephanee Sullivan

Hello Royal families!

My name is Stephanee Sullivan. I am greatly delighted to join the team at Royal Montessori! I have been teaching for ten years and assisted for two before that.

I have earned my Montessori teaching credentials in 2003 from North American Montessori College.

I love to work with young children because it brings me joy
to see their faces brighten when they’ve discovered a new knowledge. I truly believe it is my calling.

I have been married to my husband Joseph who is also my best friend for 17 years. We have two sons and one daughter. (Reilly-16yrs, Rivers-14yrs, &
Reagan-12yrs) They were all Montessori children who are growing up to be wonderful young adults. The boys were blessed to have Mrs. James and Mrs.Nussbaum as their toddler room teachers. They keep themselves busy with
football, drums, weight-training, basketball, and figure skating. I believe their Montessori foundation is the reason they can balance all their activities as well as
their academics and social lives.

Besides teaching, I have another passion, which is art. As a child, I spent ten years at the Gordon School of Art. I love to share my knowledge and gift of art with students of all ages and incorporate projects into the lesson plan. I have
taught kindergarten art class for ten years and middle school art for one year. I have attended Milwaukee Institute of Art and Design, Memphis College of Art, and
am currently an online student at UWGB.

I am eager to get to know all of you and your children. It will be an amazing journey for us all to watch them become independent learners as well as get to
know each of their personalities!

Tiffany Bornick

Tiffany Bornick

Hello everyone!

I grew up in the little town of Coleman, which is where I spend most of my time. I love being around my family and friends. I am a UW Green Bay graduate with a Bachelor’s degree in Human Development and Psychology. For the last two years, I have been working with autistic children. I started out as a behavioral tech and worked my way up to senior intern. Each child I had the honor of working with has truly touched my life.

Working with kids is where my heart is at and I am lucky to have been able to work with them ever since I graduated. I am very eager to be given the opportunity to get to know the children here.

I am so excited to be joining the Royal Montessori Academy family and to be working with your children.

Irina Lanich

Preschool Teacher, West Campus

Irina Lanich

Hello Everyone-

My name is Irina Lanich, and I am a new addition to Royal Montessori Academy. I am especially grateful and happy to join this school because of the great teachers I know serve here who have withstood the test of time and have proven to be the best of best in serving children.

I hold Bachelors Degree in Early Childhood, American Montessori Society Degree, have completed 15 credits toward Title I K-12 Reading Teacher. I am a mother of two sons who have gone through Montessori program during their early childhood and elementary years. As a family, we love getting together with our friends camping and fishing.

I have been in educational field working with students of all ages for nearly 17 years; eleven out those years had been dedicated to serving in a role of Montessori teacher bringing Montessori method to a diverse population of children and their families.
In a recent years, I have carried and applied Montessori approach outside of Montessori grounds, and was amazed to see how still relevant, valid and effective it is to this day in achieving academic success regardless of the age!

Along with Maria Montessori's discovery of ability of young children to learn and necessity of educating them, I side with Montessori approach to educate young children. Together with Montessori principles, I believe and practice helping children discover their potential within prepared classroom environment that reflects her philosophy, filled with creative ethos of Montessori materials, teacher's care, student's inquiry. I prepare classroom environment that is resplendent with abundant quality literature whether it is to be in a form of assigned reading books or recreational paradigm of reading that I believe to be a foundational pillar of all learning across all disciplines; classroom that promotes and sustains emergent literacy paving the way for acquiring 21st century skills, multiple intelligences, self-efficacy that in turn contributes to building child's character.

I look forward to working together in providing the best possible care for children with great emphasis on quality education and cooperative community of life-long learners.

Due to my husband's 17 years in the Marine Corps, we moved around a bit before settling in Green Bay in 2004 when he got assigned to recruiting duty. We continue to love Green Bay and hope to make it our forever home.

Early in my life, I knew I wanted to work with people. I was initially interested in nursing, until my mom was diagnosed early in her life with terminal brain cancer, and my dad had quadruple by-pass heart surgery in the same year. Spending an overwhelming amount of time in hospitals and seeing everyone go through so much was very emotionally taxing. It was then, I decided I could still touch lives and make a difference by focusing on the importance of teaching.

I started my college career in Elementary Education and later changed to Communication Disorders when classes were flooded with an over-abundance of Education majors like myself making it difficult to get classes and complete a degree program on time. My dad had spent his entire working career as a Speech Pathologist/Audiologist and was very influential in my decision. I finally received my Bachelor of Arts degree through the School of Education In Communication Disorders with a focus on Speech and Language Pathology and Audiology from the University of Wisconsin - EauClaire.

I've found through experience, I love working with children the most, and have been blessed to have 7 1/2 years working as a preschool teacher thus far.

Aside from being around children, I'm happiest when I'm spending time with my family - sometimes simply doing absolutely nothing. I also love movies, attending G.B. Gamblers hockey games, and anything and everything to do with Christmas. I enjoy traveling, whether it be for a day trip, a weekend, or something much grander. My favorite places thus far have been Barcelona, Spain, the Biltmore Estates in Asheville, North Carolina, Washington, D.C., The Luray Caverns in Virginia's Shenandoah Valley, Wilmington, North Carolina, and Pigeon Forge, Tennessee. My dream is to tour all of Europe some day. I also have fun entertaining, dabbling in interior design, cooking, and baking. Amongst my family and friends, I'm often referred to as "the Cake Lady".

I look forward to becoming an involved part of the Royal Montessori Academy Family and getting to know all of you and your children. Thank you so much for your warm welcome.

Shannon Parmentier

Hello parents, families, and the wonderful Royal Montessori Academy community! My name is Shannon Parmentier. I am originally from Marshfield, Wisconsin, but I have enjoyed being a “cheesehead” here in Green Bay since 2014.

I received my Bachelor’s degree in ‘Family and Consumer Science-Family Life Education’ from the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point in 2011. Go Pointers! I have enjoyed working with children since my college years, which includes: being a Big Sister with the Big Brothers Big Sisters organization, volunteering at an elementary school, interning at a family resource center, and completing two years of service with AmeriCorps. One of my fondest memories of working with children was when I was an AmeriCorps member. I had the enjoyment of participating in a duathlon with many of the students I mentored throughout the year. The relationships I formed with these students proved to me that teaching children would be in my future again.

In my free time, I enjoy being active outdoors. I love volleyball, basketball, football, baseball, golf, tennis, biking, downhill skiing, and snowshoeing! I enjoy going to sporting events, especially to cheer on my Packers, Bucks, Badgers, Cubs, and Blackhawks. I also love traveling. My favorite destination so far has been Hawaii, but I’m looking forward to exploring Europe someday! When I’m not outdoors or traveling, you can find me on Pinterest searching for yummy recipes to cook for my family.

I look forward to meeting and working with all of you soon!

Ashley Zeh

Toddler Teacher, West Campus

Ashley Zeh

Hello, my name is Ashley Zeh! I live in a small town outside of Green Bay with my son, Kayden. I began teaching Preschool in the Green Bay area in 2008, after earning my Bachelor’s degree in Family Life Education from UW Stevens Point. Since graduating, I have also attended and completed trainings in Sign Language, Multiple Intelligences, International Baccalaureate, Conscious Discipline and Zoo Phonics, to name a few. I love to learn new things and feel that’s an important part of being an education; the more I learn, the more I can bring back to the classroom.

Having a small child myself, I understand how important it is to find a Preschool program that provides a safe, comforting and enthusiastic environment for your child, as well as a welcoming environment for the parent! I believe all children start out with an intense desire to learn and by providing them with a secure and comfortable environment, I am better able to foster this learning.

Every child has interests and abilities that are unique to them and by allowing children to express themselves through work and play, I am able to gain a real understanding of the strengths and personalities of each child. I feel that teaching and learning should be fun for all those involved in the process; teachers, parents and students alike.

I can’t wait to share my love and passion for teaching with you and your children, here at Royal Montessori Academy!

Lauren LaFave

Hello RMA Families!

My name is Lauren LaFave! I'd love to share a little bit about myself as I will be working closely with your children. I am a Pulaski High School Graduate and immediately after high school I studied at Paul Mitchell Beauty School in Green Bay and received my license in 2013. During my time in school I always was working with children of all ages and loved it. I just didn't realize once I started a career away from children how very much I'd miss it.

I have been working with kids from all ages for as long as I can remember. From volunteering in the nursery and teaching preschool at church to having many different babysitting/Nanny experiences. I have a huge heart and passion for kids and see it as a life long interest/experience. After a very special trip to Mexico where I stayed at an orphanage for a week, where I got the opportunity to pour my time and love into these children and got to watch a season of growth, I knew at that point I wanted to continue to be a part of a child's learning and development stages and to just let them know how special they are. Most recently I've spent time working at the YMCA Kids Corner working with children from infancy to early grade school.

I am recently married to my husband, Josh, and in our spare time we are turing our house into a home, enjoying friends and family and just relaxing together. We look forward to starting a family of our own.

On that note, I am so very excited to begin this journey at the Royal Montessori Academy to now pour into your children! Thank you for giving me the opportunity to teach them and watch them grow. I cherish this gift.

Skylar Mounce

Hello RMA Families!

I am Skylar Mounce, and I am very excited to be a part of the RMA team. I graduated from UW-Green Bay with a degree in Human Development and Psychology and I also have a degree in Community Counseling from Lakeland University. I have spent the last few years working both in childcare and counseling at a private practice. I have always enjoyed working with and teaching children and feel that RMA is the perfect fit for me to do something I am passionate for every day. Much of my experience is in working with infants and toddlers, so I am thrilled I will be working in the toddler room. The way they learn and develop at this age truly amazes me. I love being a part of guiding each child and seeing how much they learn each and every day.

On a more personal side, my husband Luke and I have been married since 2013 and we recently welcomed our beautiful little girl named Maliyah. During my free time I love spending time with family, going kayaking, and cheering on the Pack! I am looking forward to starting a great school year with you all.

Bonnie Jost

Hello, my name is Bonnie Jost.

I am a wife, mother of two grown children and grandmother of a almost 5 year old grandson (Hayden). My husband (Dean) and I recently relocated to the Cecil area. We have 2 dogs and 2 cats. Axle, Lucy, Winston and Pepe (aka....naughty Kitty).I have a horse named Ashquar who takes up most of my spare time.

I've enjoyed working with children for most of my career. I've worked many years as a para-professional in the public school system. First traditional teaching then moving into the Montessori Methods. This has given me an opportunity to see many styles of teaching. After assisting in a Montessori classroom I decided to work and get my Montessori credentials. I was lucky enough to have my own classroom for 6 years! Some people ask "how do you do it?" The children teach me to open my heart and mind to life everyday. This career is so rewarding and I couldn't imagine doing anything else.

I have a love of nature, art, animals and the outdoors. I look forward to being part of the Royal Montessori Academy Family. I am so happy I've found this school to teach in. I have a open door policy please don't be afraid to come in.

Montessori allows us to never leave a rock unturned.

Korey Hokenson

Teacher Support, West Campus

Korey Hokenson

Have you ever had a dream come true? Well, I did this spring when was offered a job at Royal Montessori Academy. Hi, my name is Korey Hokenson and the education of children (especially the Montessori method) is my life’s passion.

I just relocated from beautiful Marquette Michigan, where I studied Elementary Education with a focus on Language Arts for the past few years. I am attending UW-GB to add early childhood onto my elementary ed degree. The first time I attended college was 15 years ago for Art. I have worked in social services with children and adults for the past decade in various capacities and states.

I decided to return to college to pursue my elementary ed degree because of my passion for reading and helping children. I am an avid reader and my interest in emergent literacy lead me to transfer to a university that had the option to attach early childhood onto an elementary ed degree. Preschool children have the most beautiful and fascinating brains, and showcase their emerging literacy skills in the most brilliant ways!

My ultimate goal is to enroll in the Masters program for Montesorri/Elementary Ed as soon as I am with me last few classes. I believe literacy is a right we need to advocate for all children. I also believe Montesorri values (especially the RMS program Mrs. Collins has made) align with my core values and prepare children to be successful and wonderful adults.

You will find me at the book store or craft store with my nieces when I am not enjoying my days with your children. I am so excited to be here. You will recognize me as the teacher who is having just as much fun discovering life at school as your children. Thank you for allowing me to spend my days with your children in a place that is my educational dream come true.

Dawn Fisher

Dawn Fisher

Hello! My name is Dawn Fisher and I am so excited to be joining the team at Royal Montessori Academy as a member of the Teacher Support staff!

I discovered a passion for early childhood education as a stay at home mom to my two young children. I then became certified through NWTC and began providing day care to children ages 2-5 in my home. I've also worked as a youth activities instructor for preschool classes at the De Pere Community Center and volunteered in my childrens schools and classrooms throughout the years. I find working with children is so rewarding. I just love watching their excitement as they learn new things and master new skills and the joy in which they experience the world around them.

I'm married, have two teenage children, two dogs and two cats. In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my family and pets, walking, biking, kayaking, attending festivals, farmers markets, reading and doing home improvement projects.

I'm looking forward to beginning this journey and getting to know the children and families at RMA!

Sara Bieda

Toddler Teacher, East Campus

Sara Bieda

Hello RMA Families!

Let me introduce myself… I am Sara Bieda! I was born and raised in Ashwaubenon, and attended Ashwaubenon High School. While attending highschool I also attended NWTC where I studied medical terminology, became a certified childcare assistant, and a nursing assistant. After high school I attended college at Bellin’s School of Radiologic Technology. It was then that I discovered my love for working with children. While I waited for a radiographer position to open at a pediatric hospital, I took, what I thought would be, a temporary position as a nanny. It was then that I discovered my desire to teach children. Year after year, I pushed my plan to work as a radiographer further away, and continued to follow my heart with teaching. During my time as a nanny, I worked with large families, and discovered the immense benefits of the Montessori multiage concept. I focused on creating days that drove children to want to learn. In 2015, when I became pregnant with my first child, I stepped away from my nanny position to manage a boutique, where I would bring my son to work with me each day. I thought I had the best of both worlds; I could work, and still spend my day with my baby. However, as my work days got busier, and as he got bigger, I knew that it was time to find him a better environment, and time follow my passion of teaching. That is what brought me to Royal Montessori Academy!

I now reside in West De Pere with my incredible husband and our 1 year old son, Beckham. Together we enjoy spending time at our family cottage, hanging out with our families, watching the Green Bay Packers, going to the farmer's market, and decorating our new home.

As I mentioned, I absolutely love to learn! Perhaps, that it what I love most about my job at RMA. While it is my job to teach your child, what you probably don’t realize is that every day they are teaching me. They say it takes an Army to raise a child, and I fully believe that. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to be the best soldier I can be while I bring my love of learning and passion to your child’s Army.

Hello RMA families,

My name is Katie Vogt. I grew up in De Pere, WI and now reside in Bellevue, WI with my wonderful husband, Eric. I love spending time with my family, friends and doing anything outdoors. I’m all about outdoor adventures and exploring new areas. My favorite outdoor hobbies are gardening, hiking and fishing… it never gets old to “out-fish the boys” and show them how it’s done! My husband and I spend a lot of time on our patio relaxing when Wisconsin weather permits… winter is all about Packer season for us! I also love live music (mostly country) and will catch a concert whenever I get the opportunity.

For the past 6 years, I have been working with children with Autism Spectrum Disorders. That career taught me so many valuable skills… most importantly patience! Being able to help kids with special needs become more independent and develop new skills has been extremely important to me and very rewarding. I love watching kids learn and experience new things. I am so thrilled to be joining the RMA team and continuing my passion to teach children.

For six years I taught Spanish, Math and Reading/Phonics in small groups for children who were advanced or needed additional help in these areas. During the summers I have taught school aged camps for children 5-12 years old.

I love everything about the teaching process and what I love most is being able to bring a fun, positive energy to the students! I love to sing and always encourage the children to sing with me.

I am truly blessed to be married to my husband Kevin! Together we have an adult son, a daughter in high school and a step-daughter in high school.

I enjoy building homes with Habitat for Humanity and cooking meals for the workers. I LOVE to bake and decorate cakes, scrapbook and go up north with my family! I teach Religious Education for teenagers at my church.

God has blessed my life with being able to teach children and watch them grow. Teaching children has always been my dream. To touch their lives and help make a difference in the world is priceless. I love seeing children's progress and the way their faces light up when they have mastered a skill. Life has given me many different adventures with teaching and I am so excited to have the opportunity to be at Royal Montessori Academy! I truly believe every child contributes something special and unique to our life. Children are our future and I am proud to have the opportunity to help make a difference and make our world a beautiful place to live.

Thank you for the opportunity to teach your children and share the days with them!

Danielle Bonis

Hello RMA families!

My name is Danielle but your little ones will know me as Mrs. Bonis. I am happy to be a part of the RMA family as a preschool co-teacher at the east campus.
I am from a small north woods town called Glidden, Wisconsin where I graduated from Chequamegon High School in 2012. I graduated from UW-Green Bay in May 2016 with degrees in English and Spanish as well as minors in Linguistics and English as a Second Language.

I have always been a natural leader and I describe myself as outgoing, determined, and friendly. I love volunteering and being involved in my communities. I spent one week as a counselor at Badger Girls State, a mock government camp for high school girls. Here, I truly understood how much I loved empowering today’s youth as well as being a positive role model. My last semester of college, I interned as an ESL tutor for Literacy Green Bay where I have taught English to non-English-speaking adults. I have also volunteered at St. Matthew’s Catholic School as a Spanish aide for third through sixth graders. I also enjoy learning; language arts, psychology, history, science, and literature are some of my favorite topics.

I currently reside in Bellevue with my husband. My free time is usually spent relaxing with family and friends, catching up on TV shows (my favorite is The Golden Girls!), traveling, and browsing Pinterest for craft ideas that I never seem to actually start.
There is nothing better than walking into my classroom in the morning and being greeted by bunches of tiny, smiling human beings. I will also never forget the moment I helped one of my preschoolers work up the perseverance to write her name. Looking back on these moments makes me happier and happier to be a teacher as time goes on throughout the school year with the variety of children I guide. I am thrilled to be a part of RMA where I’ll be able to help your child grow socially, mentally, and intellectually. I can’t wait to share my passion for teaching and learning with you and your child!

Kaila Siegel

Hello RMA families! My name is Kaila Siegel and I am so excited to be joining this amazing team of teachers and continuing my love and passion for teaching.

I grew up not too far away in Kaukauna, Wisconsin and was born and raised there. I recently graduated from UW Oshkosh with my bachelor’s degree in Human Services and have also taken many child development courses as well. I knew very early on in life that I wanted to work with children and wanted to pursue that dream of mine.

I worked for Outagamie County for 2 years and worked with children ages 5 to 17 that had emotional and behavioral disorders. A lot of these children were in and out of foster care and I had to be the best role model I could be for them and teach them new things each day. After that program had relocated to a different city, I was then offered a job teaching preschool through the YMCA. Although it was a little different than what I had been doing, I took on the challenge and have loved every single minute of being a preschool teacher. I was placed in the school setting at Kaukauna and Kimberly School District and had 2 classrooms at each school. During my 2 years working there, I took over 100 hours of continuing education and child development courses to further my knowledge of teaching and children and received my Registry Teaching Certificate during that time as well.

In my free time I enjoy hanging out with friends and family and making anything I do into fun and adventure. I love to travel and see the world and expand my knowledge and my own horizons. I enjoy being outside in nature and going hiking and camping in the summer and skiing in the winter.

I am so excited to be teaching your children and can’t wait to use my creativity and knowledge with this amazing RMA team!

Hello RMA families!

I am extremely excited to have this opportunity to teach your children in the preschool classroom!

Born ½ hour south of Milwaukee, I grew up in the town of Waterford and knew at the age of 8 that I wanted to be a teacher. I graduated in 2013 from UW River Falls with a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education and a Minor in Early Childhood. I was fortunate enough to be able to travel to Australia and student-teach in a preschool classroom for two months. I spent the first three years of my teaching career at Assumption Catholic School in Durand, WI, where I taught 2nd grade. I then went on to teach 1st Grade at St. James Catholic School in Eau Claire, WI.

My husband, Josh, and I were married on June 10th, 2017 and shortly thereafter decided to move to Green Bay to start our married life together. I believe parents are the first and most important teachers in a child’s life and therefore seek to develop a strong relationship with all of my parents to be able to work together to best meet the needs of each child. My goal is always to create an environment where students feel safe, loved, and free to take risks without fear. I cannot wait to play, grow, and learn with your preschooler!

Mallory Woelfel

I am Mallory Woelfel and I am extremely excited to be joining the RMA team! I was born and raised in Green Bay, so I am a home town girl! I attended University of Wisconsin-Green Bay (UWGB) and I earned my degree in Early Childhood and Elementary Education. I am certified to teach children from birth to eighth grade, and I also hold a Human Development minor from UWGB along with an Autism Certificate from Northeast Wisconsin Technical College (NWTC). While attending UWGB, I was lucky enough to student teach and live in Cuernavaca, Mexico for 12 weeks where I taught 4th grade English for 9 of those weeks. It was an experience I will forever cherish and be thankful for! In my second half of student teaching, I worked in a 4K classroom at Red Smith School in the Green Bay School District, which I absolutely loved as well! Throughout my five years in college, I worked throughout the Green Bay and DePere School Districts at OAK School, Langlade Elementary, Howe Elementary, Aldo Leopold Elementary, and Heritage Elementary, where I assisted with nature based learning, math, language, and reading lessons. While a student at UWGB, I also worked as a co-teacher in the 2 and 3-year-old classrooms at Christ Community Lutheran. Upon graduation, I worked as a full-time nanny for a toddler. While working as a nanny, I became interested in learning and applying principles from the Montessori teaching approach and philosophy, and I saw how positively a child could be impacted by this method. I love working with kids and being an educator - it is my true passion! I am so excited and grateful to be applying my skills and leveraging my experience I have gained so far in my career with the students at the East Side RMA! I truly look forward to meeting each of you and working with your children!

In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my family, being a mentor for Big Brothers Big Sisters, reading, enjoying local events in the community, attending Packer games, and going to concerts.
